The Calhoun County High School All-Alumni gathering will not be held for a second year in a row.
The long-held event has drawn alumni from all over the USA.
The old school graduated about 8,000 students, most going to all parts of the country, making their mark.
Alumni, mostly from the old school, congregated for about 40 years. During the the past 20+ years, recent grads have quickly moved into the bigger world, with few connected to their roots.
The late Denver Roberts, who gave one of the most memorable talks to the event, said "Our whole lives centered on school and sports, now overtaken by 21st Century technology."
The event is likely down for the count, with longtime volunteers to keep it going unable to keep it going. |
