FRIDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 475 NEW CASES

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported five new COVID-19 deaths and 475 new cases in the state Friday. The state has 7,272 current active cases.

The overall positive test rate remained at 5.21% Friday while the daily test rate increased from 3.80% to 4.31%.

As of Thursday, there were 234 people hospitalized in the state with the virus, including 57 in intensive care and 19 people on ventilators. There are 480,870 West Virginians who are fully vaccinated. There have been 136,272 COVID-19 recoveries in the state.
