| FAIRMONT SHOOTING - A man has been charged after allegedly shooting another male over a vehicle dispute in Fairview.
On Mar. 25, deputies with the Monongalia County Sheriffâs Department responded to a reported shooting victim at a residence on Lee Tennant Road in Fairview, according to a criminal complaint.
When deputies met with the victim, he stated that earlier in the day âhe had been shot with a shotgun in the stomach, hands and feet,â and deputies observed 15-20 âsmall red marksâ which were âconsistent with BBâs,â deputies said.
The victim said that he had borrowed a vehicle from Douglas Hapchuk, 35, of Fairview, the night before, and when the victim attempted to return the vehicle to Hapchuk, Hapchuk âfired one round from a 12 gauge shotgun strikingâ the victim, according to the complaint.
After being shot, the victim âfled the area and walked backâ to his home, where he âtended to his injuries and then called 911,â deputies said.
Deputies then made contact with Hapchuk at his residence, and âHapchuk denied knowledge of the incident,â but he did state âhe was not happy with people taking his vehicle without his permission,â according to the complaint.
After deputies obtained a search warrant, they executed it on that same days and located âa spent shotgun shell where [the victim] stated Hapchuk was standing when he fired the firearm,â deputies said.
Hapchuk has been charged with wanton endangerment and malicious wounding. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
CHARLESTON STABBING -
One person has been taken to the hospital after a stabbing incident Saturday that happened on Ida Mae Way near Clendenin Street in Charleston.
According to first responders on scene, the stabbing incident arose from a pepper spray fight.
One person has been arrested and no names have been released at this time.
The condition of the person injured is currently unknown. The Charleston Police Department is handling this ongoing investigation.
SHOOTER? - Pocahontas County Sheriffâs Deputies took a man into custody Friday night after an incident described as a âpotential active shooterâ situation.
An alert to those living in the Snowshoe community went out about 6:30 to stay-in-place while the situation was handled at the Par-Mar station in Big Springs. The suspect was arrested and the all clear was issued on the countyâs Homeland Security Facebook page.
Deputies have released no further information about the incident or the circumstances surrounding the situation. |
