The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,516 new COVID-19 cases and 39 additional deaths in its report on Wednesday.
Calhoun reports 14 new cases in past 48-hours.
The state's revised color coded map initially made the state green (lowest risk), but now, all W.Va. counties are red or orange on county alert map for second day in row (highest risk).
Today is also a record breaking day for West Virginians being hospitalized.
The DHHR confirmed 1,276 new COVID-19 cases and a record-setting 46 additional deaths in its report on Tuesday.
The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, there have been a total of 1,570,248 (+11,388) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 94,678 (+1,516) total cases and 1,481 (+39) of those cases resulting in deaths.
According to the DHHRâs COVID-19 dashboard, there are currently 27,626 (+310) active cases and 65,571 (+2,167) recovered cases in the state.
