| West Virginia added more than 1,700 new COVID-19 cases Sunday as the stateâs positive test rates climbed.
Calhoun has added 19 active cases in past seven days.
There are 47 out of 55 West Virginia counties in the red on Sundayâs COVID-19 County Alert map.
Health officials confirmed 1,731 new cases on the day, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The overall positive test rate was 5.03% on the day, up from 4.94%, while daily positive test rate was 14.03%.
The total of active cases in West Virginia is now 27,418.
The state added three new coronavirus-related deaths.
Hospitalizations are currently at 805 in the Mountain State, down five from the previous day. Intensive care admissions are at 202 and there are 90 people on a ventilator -- both totals down from the previous day.

There are currently 62,264 people who have recovered from the coronavirus in West Virginia.
In an update on vaccines, the state said it has administered 1,839 more doses since the previous update. West Virginia has administered 51,646 doses so far and has 51,729 yet to be administered, according to the state DHHR website. |
