The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 34 more coronavirus deaths in the state on Wednesday, raising the total deaths to 1,318 since the start of the pandemic.
The DHHR reported 1,452 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 84,225 since March. There are 24,433 active cases in the state.
Currently the state has the highest number of hospitalizations.
W.Va.'s county alert map has 54 of state's 55 counties in red or orange, with Calhoun in green, although Calhoun has increasing cases.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) confirmed Wednesday that 634 total active cases are in the stateâs juvenile and adult corrections facilities. Five inmates have died as a result of COVID-19, according to the latest figures by the DHHR.
Hospitalizations were at 797, with 209 in intensive care and 93 on a ventilator. Recoveries were at 58,474.
The stateâs cumulative positive test rate was at 4.78%, up from 4.72%. The daily positive test rate was at 11.68%, which was an increase from 10.45% on Tuesdayâs report.
The state has received 86,800 total vaccine doses and 37,862 doses have been administered.
