West Virginia has the second highest rate of spread of the coronavirus in the nation heading into Christmas Day.

WV DHHR confirms 1,303 new COVID-19 cases Thursday.
The daily positivity test rate is at 7.90%. Active cases are now at 22,987. Hospitalizations reported by the DHHR were at 739 on Christmas Eve with 170 of them being treated in ICU.
Forty-seven of the stateâs 55 counties were either âredâ or âorangeâ on the daily COVID-19 alert map.
