Health officials in West Virginia confirmed 1,127 new COVID-19 cases Sunday morning as the stateâs daily positive test rate came in at 9.40%.
The new cases pushed the stateâs active total to 22,634, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The overall positive test rate moved from 4.32% to 4.35%.
Six virus-related deaths were also reported in the Mountain State, including a 57-year old man from Randolph County, a 72-year old woman from Taylor County, an 84-year old man Marion County, an 86-year old man from Grant County, an 81-year old woman from Kanawha County and a 72-year old woman from Grant County. The death toll from the coronavirus is now 1,128 in West Virginia.
Hospitalizations dropped by 37 to 693 on Sunday. There are now 174 people in intensive care and 79 people on ventilators.
