MAN ARRESTED FOR MURDER - A Harrison County man has been arrested for first degree murder in connection with a shooting Tuesday night in Fairmont.
According to Fairmont police, Daniel Hunter Lewis, 21, of Harrison County, allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old man on Bryant Street near the intersection of Locust Avenue around 10 p.m. Lewis fled the scene and was captured in the 1000 block of Fairmont Avenue.
Sgt. Tyler Hall said the shooting was not a random act of violence.
âWe know that they had at least been with each other that day and possibly leading up to the shooting,â Hall said. âTheyâre most likely acquaintances if not friends.â
Police know Lewis is transient and had been staying in the Fairmont area for an unknown amount of time. As part of the investigation, police are looking for surveillance footage from the area between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. Wednesday.
âWeâre asking for the public to check any home surveillance they may have of Mr. Lewis fleeing the area or even if they saw Mr. Lewis in the area,â Hall said.
The name of the victim has not been released.
Lewis is being held in the North Central Regional Jail without bail. |
