WV COVID-19 REPORT FRIDAY: 1,081 NEW CASES, SIXTEEN DEATHS, CALHOUN HAS 13 ACTIVE CASES +

New cases are breaking records in many states.

Gov. Jim Justice continues to have public resistance to masks and social distancing.

West Virginia health officials reported 16 new COVID-19 deaths Friday morning.

Calhoun Has 13 active cases Friday.

There are 25 outbreaks in public schools with 88 confirmed cases, and 101 outbreaks at long-term care facilities. Churches have 22 outbreaks in 17 counties.

The state Department of Health and Human Resource reports 639 have died in the pandemic.

Over the last 24 hours, the DHHR reported 1,081 new cases, raising the total to 38,480. There were 12,177 active cases Friday.

As for hospitalizations, there were 402 in the hospital Friday, including 120 in intensive case and 51 on a ventilator. All of these numbers are down slightly from Thursday.

The overall positive test rate moved from 3.39% on Thursday to 3.42% Friday. The daily positive test rate was 4.77%, which is a decrease from 5.22% on Thursday.
