Health officials in West Virginia reported 867 new COVID-19 cases Sunday while the stateâs coronavirus numbers increased across the board.
A record number of new cases reported Saturday - 1,153.
The new COVID-19 cases raised the stateâs active total to 9,800, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Nine virus-related deaths were also reported for the day, increasing the stateâs death toll to 582.
Hospitalizations due to the virus also increased from 344 to 365, including 113 in intensive care and 36 people on ventilators -- both up from the previous day.

The overall positive test rate moved from 3.20% to 3.24% after the daily positive test rate finished at 5.40% Sunday.
