Foster L. Keene, 77 of Hartville, Ohio, formerly of Newton, West Virginia, passed away
Saturday evening, March 15, 2003 in Aultman Hospital, Canton Ohio.
He was born March 21, 1925, in Roane County, a son of the late Charles and Bonnie Hall
Keene. He had been a resident of Hartville since 1959. He owned and operated Keene's
Vegetable Market on Swamp Road for 20 years. He retired from K.W. Zellers & Son in 2000.
He was a member of the Linden Masonic Lodge No. 83 A.F.&A.M., Linden, WV, the Scottish
Rite of Freemasonry, Canton, Ohio and the Newton Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue VanCamp in 1990.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia, a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and
Roger Carper of Hartville; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Beverly Keene and William
Cecil Keene all of Hartville; sister, Mildred Folden of Charleston, WV; two brothers, Sidney
Keene of Hartville and Arch Keene of Stuart, Virginia; six grandchildren, Donna Wolcott, John
T. VanCamp, Joel Nichols, Anthony Nichols, Jason Carper and Kelly Shoemaker; four great
grandchildren, Jennifer and Carl Spencer, Austin Carper and Kaylee Nichols.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 20 at 10 a.m. in the John H. Taylor
Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, with Rev. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial with Masonic
graveside rites will be in the Keen Cemetery, Newton. |
