Ruby Bell Hitt, 95, of Walkersville WV, departed this earthly life in the afternoon hours of Monday, November 2, 2020 at the home of her great-nephew near Sand Fork WV, following a brief illness.
She was born July 9, 1925 in Lewis County WV, daughter of the late Clyde and Lillie Ables Riffle.
Ruby was a homemaker who loved farming, raising a garden, canning, raising goats (which were her favorite) and daily visits from her special friend, Vada Conrad.
On April 21, 1945 she was united in marriage to Willard L. Hitt, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2002.
Ruby is survived by her great-nephew, Jerry Posey and fiancée, Judy Steele of Linn WV, and her two dogs, Bonnie and Clyde.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Ruby is preceded in death by 6 siblings, Harry Riffle, Nellie Puffenbarger, Lillie Posey, James Puffenbarger, Vera Riffle, and Ella Posey, and a host of step-siblings.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary and Cremation Services, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville WV at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Hiney Cemetery near Linn WV, where she will be reunited with her late husband Willard. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon â 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Glenville.
