State health officials confirmed six more COVID-19 deaths Saturday morning in West Virginia.

The state has had 457 virus-related deaths.

The state DHHR also added 470 new COVID-19 cases, pushing West Virginia’s active total to 5,176, a week of record spikes likely linked to cooler weather.

There are currently 236 residents hospitalized with the coronavirus, including 73 in intensive care and 26 people on ventilators.

The overall positive test rate Saturday morning inched up to 2.92% while the daily rate came in at 3.98%.
