Deaths related to coronavirus continued to mount in West Virginia Monday as state health officials reported three new deaths.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release the deaths of a 79-year-old man from Kanawha County, an 84-year-old woman from Boone County and a 90-year-old woman from Kanawha County.
West Virginiaâs death total from the virus is now at 385.
DHHR officials said 153 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall total to 18,281. Active cases decreased by one and were at 4,578.
The stateâs cumulative positive test rate was unchanged at 2.78% The daily positive test rate was at 2.62%. More than 638,000 tests have been conducted.
Hospitalizations decreased by five and were at 168, with 62 in intensive care and 29 on a ventilator. Recoveries were up 151 and were at 13,318.
After Gov. Justice tinkered with the Harvard map, placing most West Virginia counties in low probability green, now according to the WV DHHR County Alert System Map, Mingo County has now moved to red with an infection rate of 27.44%. Doddridge, Harrison, Barbour, Upshur, Randolph and Berkeley counties are orange and Jackson and Putnam counties are gold. All other counties are listed as green or yellow on the map.
