| Virginia Dare 'Chub' Pursley, 79, of Spencer, died Monday, September 28, 2020, at CAMC â Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
She was born October 23, 1940 at Spencer, the daughter of the late James "Hank" and Gertrude Allen Shreve.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Pursley in 2012; a sister, Faye Shreve; and brother, Jim Shreve.
Chub was a former employee of Kellwood Company, Spencer Hospital and the Roane County Board of Education. Her pastimes were flower gardening, lawn care, going to yard sales and spending time at the beach.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Kim Pursley of Whitewood VA; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Rick Cottrell of Gandeeville WV grandson, Dakota James (Ashley) Pursley of Spencer; great grandson, Tanner James Chester Pursley; brothers, John and Bill Shreve both of Spencer; sisters, Linda (Stuart) Starcher of Spencer and Monica (Dan) Matheny of Madisonville KY.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1 at Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, with Kevin Shreve officiating. There will be no visitation.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
