Five more coronavirus-related deaths were reported Friday in West Virginia, including two in Kanawha County.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release the deaths of a 67-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 69-year-old woman from Kanawha County, a 94-year-old man from Harrison County, a 58-year-old man from Doddridge County and a 67-year-old woman from Mercer County.
West Virginiaâs death total is now at 330.
Milton Middle School and Huntington East Middle School have been closed with cases of COVID-19.
The Salem fire chief has died from COVID-19.
State is reporting new cases of COVID-19 in Calhoun.
There were 247 new virus cases reported in the past 24 hours, and the total is now at 14,953. Active cases climbed 105 cases and were at a total of 3,655.
The stateâs cumulative positive test rate continued to climb and was at 2.79%, up from 2.78%. The daily positive percentage was at 3.53%.
Hospitalizations were up by four and were at 177, with 59 in intensive care and 31 on a ventilator. Recoveries were up 137 and were at 10,968.
