Vera Blake, 81 of Reedy died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born April 2, 1921, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Curtis Lee and Icy Mae Church Starcher. She was a homemaker, secretary of Blake and Blake Construction, Springdale, Ohio, former employee of the Spencer Hospital and Kellwood Corp., Spencer. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Survivors include two sons, David Miller of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Steven C. Miller of Elizabeth; one daughter, Emeline Guess of Reedy; two brothers, Holly Starcher of Naples, Fla., and Kenneth H. Stracher of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Beth Safford of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd G. Blake; two brothers, Ivan and Ed Starcher; and one sister, Tessa Thelma Webb.
A private burial will take place in Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations are preferred to Shriner's Hospitals, c/o the Nemesis Temple, Parkersburg or the Beni Kedem Temple, Charleston.
