WEDNESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 147 New Cases, "Situation Critical"

Four more COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in West Virginia, bringing state’s death total to 254.

"This situation right now is very critical," Gov. Justice says of rising COVID-19 numbers.

Calhoun has 11 new active cases.

West Liberty University confirms 11 active cases of COVID-19 on campus.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release Wednesday the deaths of a 59-year-old woman from Harrison County, a 69-year-old woman from Harrison County, a 62-year-old woman from Jackson County and an 87-year-old woman from Monroe County.

Meanwhile, the state had 147 new cases in the past 24 hours and now has a total of 11,808 cases. Active cases increased by 22 and were listed at a total of 2,806.

The state’s cumulative positive rate continues to rise and was at 2.55%. The daily positive percentage rate was at 7.78%. More than 463,000 tests have been conducted.

Hospitalizations declined by five and were at 147, with 55 in intensive care and 27 on a ventilator. Recoveries increased by 122 and were at 8,748.
