| A Roane County elementary school student was chosen Thursday as the winner of the statewide âWhen I Grow Upâ essay contest.
Piper Carmen, of Geary Elementary, was randomly selected as the winner in the annual contest, according to a news release from the West Virginia Treasurer's office. Carmenâs essay was about being a nurse when she grows up. She will receive $5,000 in a SMART529 account.
The event was held through Facebook Live this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. |
