Nearly all of West Virginia's counties reported a higher unemployment picture in January.
The state's overall increase was.5 of a percentage point to 6.4 percent.
Calhoun's 22.1 percent unemployment rate was the highest in West Virginia.
Jobs that Calhoun residents have traditionally driven to in a 50-70 radius have declined.
Other counties with high unemployment rates were: Wirt, Roane, Braxton, Clay, Mason, Greenbrier, Summers, Ritchie, Fayette, Lincolon, Barbour, Lewis, Grant and Jackson.
Jobs leaving the state was the biggest reason for much of the unemployment.The State Chamber of Commerce said 35,000 jobs vanished in the state last year.
Monongalia County's unemployment was the lowest in the state.
