Health officials In West Virginia confirmed another COVID-19-related death Sunday following one of the state's deadliest week with 31 deaths, since the pandemic began.
An 89-year-old man from Kanawha County is the stateâs 213th virus-related death, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Following the state's color-coded chart, 51 counties can play football with schools set to open Sept. 8.
West Virginia added 143 new cases on the day, reaching a total of 10,110. The active case total is now 1,914.
The overall positive test rate inched up Sunday from 2.34% to 2.35% with the daily positive test rate coming in at 2.84%.
Hospitalizations in West Virginia decreased by 10 in the past 24 hours to 141. There are also 45 people now in intensive care and 21 on ventilators -- both slightly down from the previous day.
