West Virginia added eight new coronavirus deaths Tuesday, state health officials said.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release the deaths of a 65-year old man from Logan County, a 72-year-old woman from Logan County, a 72-year-old woman from Logan County, an 86-year-old woman from Taylor County, a 73-year-old woman from Wyoming County, a 92-year-old woman from Grant County, a 64-year-old woman from Kanawha County and a 51-year- old woman from Cabell County.
West Virginiaâs death total is now at 187.
The DHHR said the state had 83 new virus cases since Monday, bringing the overall total to 9,395. Active cases declined 22, with a total of 1,722.
More than 403,000 tests have been conducted, and the overall positive test rate dropped slightly to 2.33%. The daily positive test rate was at 1.72%.
Hospitalizations declined by two and were listed at 139, with 46 in intensive care and 21 on a ventilator. Recoveries increased 101 since the last report and were at 7,486.
