Nearly 200 new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday morning by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
According to the daily report, West Virginia added 181 cases, bringing the total to 8,982.
The death total remained at 166 Thursday morning, although another death was reported later in the day.
Active cases are at 1,806, an increase of 80 from Wednesday.
Two additional COVID-19 cases reported at West Virginia State University at Institute, total up to 12 this week.
Nine test positive at a senior care facility in Putnam County
The stateâs overall positive test rate remained steady from Wednesday at 2.38%. The daily positive test rate rose to 2.26% from 2.14% on Wednesday.
