SATURDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT: FOUR NEW DEATHS, 130 NEW CASES

State health officials in West Virginia confirmed four new deaths related to the coronavirus Saturday morning, raising the state’s death toll to 131.

The deaths of a 70-year old man from Cabell County, a 38-year old woman from Kanawha County, an 84-year old woman from Fayette County and a 77-year old female from Fayette County were confirmed by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

The state also added 130 new COVID-19 cases while the number of active cases moved to 1,823.

The overall positive test rate in West Virginia remained at 2.38% while the daily positive test rate came in at 2.47%.

As of Friday, there were 121 West Virginians hospitalized with the virus, including 46 on intensive care. There are currently 15 people on ventilators.

The number of recoveries moved to 5,609 Saturday morning.
