Clyde C. Houchin, 84, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, died
March 12th in St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg.
Born in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Grover C. and Stella Metheney Houchin. He
was a retired operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Ohio Local # 18. He
was a member of the Minnora I.O.O.F and the Beech Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Barbara Powell and her husband Jim of Parkersburg, WV, Janet
Marks and Connie Lane of Arnoldsburg, WV, Phyllis Evans and her husband Lee of Mt. Zion,
WV Pauline Ferrell and her husband Jim Oak of Grantsville, WV; four sisters, Bernice
Laughlin, Opal Jett, Marie McKown and Madge McKown all of Arnoldsburg; one brother,
Grover Houchin, Jr. of Arnoldsburg; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Laughlin of 48 years in 1987; one brother, Forrest
Houchin and two sisters, Ruth Simmons and Eula Kerns.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home,
Arnoldsburg. Rev. Rick Metheney will officiate. Interment will be in the Houchin Cemetery at
Arnoldsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
