West Virginia added 64 new positive COVID-19 cases Friday afternoon for a daily total increase of 220 cases, the state Department of Health and Human Resources said.
No new deaths were reported in the afternoon during a week in which 13 deaths have already been reported. West Virginiaâs death total remained at 116.
Active cases declined by one from the morning report and were listed at 1,711. Recoveries increased by 65 from the morning report and were at 4,815.
Hospitalizations continue to climb and were listed at 108 â up six from the morning report - with 39 in intensive care and 18 on a ventilator.
More than 283,000 tests have been conducted, and the overall positive test rate remained at 2.34%. The daily positive test rate was at 2.82%.
The virus cases and deaths are raging out of control in at least 20 states.
