Jackie Edward Roberts, 62, of Spencer died Sunday, March 9, 2003 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born in Reedy, a son of the late William Clark and Verna Cunningham Roberts. He worked for several years for
Vandale Funeral Home, Kincaid Wholesale-Super K Market and Mutual Oil & Gas Company.
He was disabled for the past 13 years and was a member of Steele Hollow Community Church where he served as trustee
and devotion leader.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Frances Whited Roberts; one son, Rev. Jackie Harold Roberts of Spencer;
three daughters, Kathy Simons, Patty Mathewson and Amber Smith, a granddaughter they adopted, all of Spencer; one
brother, Wayne Roberts of Spencer; three sisters, Louise Cottrell of Tennessee, Betty Lyle of Illinois and Katie Moore of
North Carolina; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William C. Roberts; and one infant sister.
Service was Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Roberts and Rev. Charles Davis officiating.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Reedy.
