| Clarence Junior "Jake" Newbrough of Brohard, WV, passed away July 20, 2020, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
Born in Brohard, the son of the late Joseph P. and Lillie Mae Newbrough, he attended Wirt County High School.
On July 6, 1957, he married his wife Birtie L. Newbrough.
He was a heavy equipment operator out of Local 18 in Akron, Ohio. A Baptist by faith, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler and playing golf. He was an Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg, WV.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Birtie Newbrough; siblings Delorce Gibson, Inis Swisher and Robert Newbrough; a nephew Mike Heiney whom he raised like a son; nieces and nephews who were like grandchildren Heather, Megan and JR; great-grandchildren Anthony, Mackenzie, Tristan and Katie and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Newbrough, Grant Newbrough, Opal Burrows and Faye Lynch.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2020, at 1 p.m. with burial at Betts Cemetery in Calhoun County, WV. Kenny Heiney will officiate at the funeral and military rites will be observed. |
