Barbara Jean Landis Jones, age 71 of Upper Steer Run Road, Normantown WV departed this earthly life on the morning of Saturday, July 4, 2020 at her home on Steer Run with her loving husband Bill by her side.
She was born September 26, 1948 on Steer Run and is the daughter of the late Clarence and Laura Marks Moss.
Barbara is a graduate of Normantown High School, Class of 1966 and a graduate of Glenville State College, class of 1993. She was a teacher at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center, having retired in 1993 with 17 yearsâ experience.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed reading the Bible, spending time with family and friends, living the quiet life in and around the Normantown area, and attending Sunday services at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she and her husband were members.
On September 13, 1991 Barbara was united in marriage to William Lyda "Bill" Jones who survives at their home on Steer Run.
Barbara is survived by her grandson, Jesse Daniel Landis of Normantown; daughter-in-law, Lisa Landis of Normantown; 3 step-sons, Billy Jones (Dawna) of Orlando WV, Jerry Jones (Rebecca) of Wallace WV, and Tommy Jones of Folson WV, and 1 step-daughter, Patty McDaniel (Lynn) also of Folson; and 2 step-grandchildren, Brenna Ketthsak (Aaron) of Weston WV, and Jared Jones of Wallace WV.
Also surviving are 3 siblings, Carol Sprouse (Stephen) of Normantown, Paul Moss (Bobbi) of Tanner WV and Donnie Moss (Emalene) of Vienna WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her first husband, John Landis and her son, Kenneth Landis who departed this earthly life on May 8, 2018; and 3 siblings, Kenneth Moss, Arlou Minney, Wayne Moss, and June Smith.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 with Rev. Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Steer Run Cemetery near Normantown. Friends will be received from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Glenville Cancer Fund, 217 East Main Street, Glenville, WV 26351, ATTN: FBC Cancer Fund.
