Regina Marie Kerby, 70, of Parkersburg, passed away into Jesusâ arms June 28, 2020 at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. She was born November 9, 1949 in Elkins WV, a daughter of the late Fletcher âJuneâ OâDell and the late Lola OâDell.
She earned her associateâs degree at Mountain State Community College in 1969. She retired in December 2019 from West Virginia Secondary Schools Activity Commission after working there for 25 years. She was an active member of Fairlawn Baptist Church, serving on many committees over the years and rarely missing a service.
Regina was beloved by all who knew her. She was kind and compassionate with a quick wit.
Her family was her most precious gift, especially her grandchildren. She was an incredible wife, mom, and nana. She also had a strong faith in God and relied on Him to the very end. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Samuel Kerby; her daughter, Gina Cheshire and husband, Michael of Parkersburg; her daughter, Ginger Kerby of Parkersburg; her grandchildren, Wesley Kerby, Jordan Kerby, and Josiah Cheshire; sister, Karen Doty of Powhatan Pt., Ohio; sisters-in-law, Sally Albaugh (Steve) and Sandy Kerby, of Grantsville, WV; her lifelong best friend, Mary Jenks; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Steortz and Kenneth Steortz; and sister-in-law, Sue Kerby.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The service will be Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Sommerville officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Debbie Thrall Scholarship Fund for Fairlawn Christian Academy.
Due to Covid, the family requests that when you pay your respects, please respect each other and wear a mask and practice social distancing.
