Eleanor Dewees, 82, of Belpre passed away March 9, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 5, 1920, in Calhoun County, WV, a daughter of the late Alvy and Lona Gay Freshour. She worked for Doe Miller Sons for 25 years and retired in 1993. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
She is survived by one daughter, Rita Woodyard and son-in-law Ward of Little Hocking; one son, Edward B. Dewees and daughter-in-law Kim of Belpre; six grandchildren, Sandra Whitehair and her husband Charlie of Little Hocking, Brenda Kirkbride and her husband Kevin of Whipple, Brian Woodyard and his wife Melanie of Vienna, Shana Dewees of Belpre, Kevin Dewees and his wife Brenda of Vincent and Kristy Dewees of Belpre.
The joy of her life the past three years were her two great-grandsons, Garrett Whitehair of Little Hocking and Dylan Kirkbride of Whipple; two sisters, Eloise Nutter of Marietta, Ohio, and Geneva Lynn of Belpre; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elza B. Dewees; one son, Maynard Dewees; five brothers, Gail, Paul, Denzil, Donald and Bobby Jean Freshour; and two sisters, Lucille Beall and Madeline Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the Tatman Funeral Home, 220 Main St., Belpre, Pastor Robert Clegg officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
