There are 38 new COVID-19 cases in WV Friday

Outbreaks are soaring in a number of states.

More than 2,000 people have now recovered from the coronavirus in West Virginia.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources’ website on Friday listed a total of 2,002 recoveries and 636 active cases.

Meanwhile, the state agency said in a news release that West Virginia has had another 18 positive virus cases with a total of 2,730 cases as of 5 p.m.

More than 162,000 tests have been given, and the positive test rate was at 1.68%.

No new deaths were reported, and the death total remained at 92.

Currently, there are 33 hospitalized, with 10 in intensive care and four on a ventilator.
