(06/17/2020)
Nineteen new COVID-19 positive cases were reported Tuesday, but the state’s overall positive test rate dropped to one of its lowest totals, 1.71%.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release that the state had at total of 2,341 positive virus cases as of 5 p.m.

A single case added to Calhoun's two cases was deleted last week when the test turned out to be a false positive.

The Boone County Health Department has confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at a church in the Bloomingrose area of the county.

Dr. Philip Galapon, director and public health officer at the health department, confirmed Tuesday that the church at the center of the outbreak is the Bloomingrose Church of Christ.

Galapon said the department was first made aware of the positive cases around June 4 after learning that an elderly couple from the church had come down with coronavirus symptoms. Galapon said several people from the church traveled to Whitesville for a community testing and soon discovered that there were a total of seven church members who had contracted the disease.

No new deaths were reported, and the total remained at 88.

More than 136,900 tests have been given. Of the positive virus cases, 2,261 are confirmed and 80 are probable.

The state has had 1,636 recoveries, and there are currently 617 active cases.

Currently, there are 24 hospitalized, with eight in intensive care and three on a ventilator.
