Oil and gas field businessman and worker, F. Ray Grimm, 82, of Spencer, has died in a Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Grimm was a well-known, amiable figure to Calhoun, Roane and the region for much of the last century.
He was born June 29, 1920, in Roane County, WV, a son of the late Ed and Goldie Short Grimm. He was retired from the McIntosh and Grimm oil field business with over 50 years of service, was a member of American Legion Post No. 21, and the Boggs Fork Community Church, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Donalson Grimm; one daughter, Linda Hathaway and her husband, Jerry of Williamstown, WV; one son, Larry S. Grimm of Spencer; one stepdaughter, Regina Campbell and her husband, Joe of Spencer; one stepson, Richard Donalson and his wife, Diana of Spencer; one sister, Edith Boyles and her husband, Ronald of Spencer; one grandson, Barry Hathaway and his wife, Maxi of Suffolk, VA; one granddaughter, Terri Welsh and her husband, Kevin of Vincent, Ohio; one great-grandson, Chase Welsh; two step-grandsons, Jeremiah and Jason Donalson; and two step-great-grandsons, Kyle and Patrick Welson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dawn Starcher Grimm.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer with Chaplain John Lowe officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.
Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by Post No. 21.
