MONDAY PM: NEW COVID-19 CASES 18

Another COVID-19 death has been reported in West Virginia, bringing the state’s death total to 76, state officials said.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed in a news release that the latest death is an 80-year-old man from Preston County.

West Virginia’s total number of positive coronavirus cases 18 on Monday. As of 5 p.m., the state had a total of 2,028 positive virus cases.

Of the state’s positive virus cases, 1,970 are confirmed and 58 are probable, according to the state agency’s website.

The DHHR said 1,332 have recovered from COVID-19.

More than 99,700 tests have been given. The state’s positive test result rate was at 2.03%.

Statistics show that as of Saturday, May 30, 31 were hospitalized with 11 in intensive care and four on a ventilator.
