THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS ISSUED A

NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA...NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA...SOUTHEAST WEST
VIRGINIA AND SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
AREAS, IN CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA, BRAXTON, CALHOUN, CLAY, GILMER,
JACKSON WV AND ROANE. IN NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA, NORTHWEST

SOUTHEAST FAYETTE, SOUTHEAST NICHOLAS AND SOUTHEAST RALEIGH. IN
SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA, BOONE, KANAWHA, MCDOWELL AND WYOMING.
THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM BERTHA WILL MOVE NORTH ACROSS WEST
VIRGINIA TONIGHT. THIS WILL RESULT IN A SURGE OF DEEP TROPICAL
MOISTURE ACROSS THE AREA AND A BRIEF WINDOW OF LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL. ALTHOUGH THE EXACT PATH OF WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAIN WILL
FALL IS STILL A LITTLE UNCERTAIN, PORTIONS OF THE WATCH AREA CAN
EXPECT TO RECEIVE 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IN ONLY A FEW HOURS, WITH
ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAVY
RAINFALL OCCURRING IN A RELATIVELY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, AND
FALLING ON ALREADY WET SOILS, MAY RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING
OVERNIGHT.
