A Sang Run-Milo man, threatening to kill his wife, parents and law enforcement Friday night, was spotted and apprehended by Sheriff Jeff Starcher and deputies at 12:30 a.m. near Grantsville.

Starcher had returned to Grantsville to get criminal warrants when he saw the suspects vehicle traveling south on Rt. 16.

Michael David Badgett, 38, had obtained several stored guns Friday, described as a person who was not allowed to possess firearms, fleeing the area crashing telephone poles and mail boxes.

Officers with the Calhoun Sheriffs Department, and numerous other law officers from the WV State Police and the Roane County Sheriffs Department, went in pursuit of Badgett, who fled toward Rt. 16 driving a highly damaged vehicle.

Badgett had been arrested earlier this month at a Roane County health clinic when he was angered over following COVID-19 rules, and spit in the face of a worker, saying they hope the worker gets the virus.

He is in Central Regional Jail, charged with at least three counts of domestic battery, DUI, and leaving the scene of an accident.

His bond is $50,000 cash only.
