The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) advocates the fact that literacy development begins at birth. To heighten young childrenâs early literacy experiences, West Virginia is a proud partner of Dolly Partonâs Imagination Library, which provides free, high-quality books to children ages birth to five.
As of July 1, 2020, all 55 counties in West Virginia now offer the program in some capacity.
To further maximize the number of children who can participate in Dolly Partonâs Imagination Library program, the WVDE, in partnership with Marshall Universityâs June Harless Center, will be providing funding support to counties based on their current collaboration model with the Imagination Library program.
