| Mattie Ellen Burch, 86, of Spencer, died Friday, April 24, 2020, at CAMC â Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after an extended illness.
She was born October 19, 1933, at Palestine, the daughter of the late Aaron Dewey and Garnet Iona Trickett Burch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Carr and a nephew.
Mattie was a retired baker, having worked for the Senior Citizens Employment Program. She was a retired 35 year employee of Kellwood Company, Spencer and for two years a toll gate collector at the Florida Turnpike. One of her pastimes was taking care of her pets, "Mattie's Mutts."
Survivors include a brother, Loring Burch of Elizabeth; sisters, Jeanette Stewart of Akron, Ohio and Maxine Bolen of Port St. Lucie, Fla; two nieces and four nephews; friend and caregiver, Diane Murdock of Palestine.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 27 at Two Runs Cemetery, Palestine, with the Rev. Danny Schreckengost officiating. There will be no visitation. Those family and friends attending the service are requested to observe the social distancing guidelines during this pandemic.
Memorial donations are preferred to the Two Runs Cemetery Fund.
