CHARLESTON SHOOTOUT - Charleston police say a man who was shot in a shootout on Monday afternoon on the city's West Side is not cooperating with the investigation.
It happened around 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Park Avenue and Central Avenue.
Police say Edward James Kinney, 27, of Charleston was shot in the leg.
Police say witnesses told them that a blue SUV with two men inside fired from the SUV toward Kinney and another person, who has not been identified.
Police say the unidentified person shot back at the SUV and then took off on foot before police got on scene.
Police say Kinney is being uncooperative.
MAN SHOT WHILE HOLDING WOMAN - Fayette County deputies said a man who was holding a woman against her will at gunpoint was shot and wounded by an officer after he refused to drop his weapon.
Dallas S. Kerr, 42 of Cannelton was shot after an incident that occurred about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Cannelton area of Fayette County, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriffâs Office.
Deputies responded after receiving a report of a domestic incident. The news release said a suspect was holding a woman at gunpoint against her will. The woman was able to escape to a neighbor's house for help.
The male then walked to the neighbor's house armed with a handgun. The male jumped through a plate glass window after not being allowed entry. Due to a malfunction with his handgun, the male walked back home to retrieve another firearm.
The first officer, who works at the Smithers Police Department, arrived at the scene. The officer confronted the suspect. According to witnesses, the officer made numerous commands for the suspect to put the gun down, but he refused to do so.
The officer shot his firearm, striking the suspect in his extremities. His wounds do not appear to be life threatening.
Kerr, the suspect, will be facing numerous serious felony charges related to this incident, deputies said.
WOMAN SHOT AT MALDEN - Kanawha County deputies arrested a North Carolina man after a woman was shot in the leg Sunday night in Malden.
Bradley David Williams, 21, of Jacksonville, N.C., is charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and one count of malicious wounding, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriffâs Office.
About 11 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the scene of a reported shooting in the 5200 block of Jonquil Drive in Malden.
A 28-year-old woman was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital. The woman is expected to be OK. A man and a child were near the victim when she was shot.
The shooter shot from a vehicle and fled in a silver car with a North Carolina license plate, the release said.
Detectives believe the shooter was known to the people who lived at the home.
Charleston police officers found the suspect vehicle later in the night, and detectives with the sheriffâs office responded to that traffic stop.
Williams is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail.
MAN STABS WOMAN WITH PITCHFORK - The Wood County Sheriff's Office was called out to Old River Road around 10 p.m., Friday.
According to Lt. J.T. Murphy, David William Rea, 65, stabbed Melissa Rea with a pitchfork. Melissa sustained an injury to her left thigh and cuts on both arms.
Rea refused to be transported by EMS and David was charged with two counts, malicious assault causing bodily injury with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or kill and assault during commission of a felony.
David William Rea is in custody and bond set at $125,000.
