Edna Marie Wright, 79, of Fleming OH. passed peacefully on Tuesday night, April 7th. Born August 1940, she was the youngest of 5 children born to Herman and Joanna Taylor Wildman.
Though she never knew her mother, who passed when she was a baby, she developed a close and loving relationship with her 3 older sisters, Carolyn “Sis,” Mary Jane “Jane,” and Eleanor. In March 1962 she married Loyd T Wright. Together they raised two fine sons, Phillip and Roger. On their property in Fleming, Edna was known for her green thumb. The farm was home to numerous flower beds, a small orchard, and a shaded herb bed, all over flowing with greenery. With the help of her husband she grew large black and red raspberry, and blueberry patches. Ednaâs family was spoiled for many years on pies made from scratch with handpicked berries and fruit. She was a firm believer that pie was an acceptable breakfast food.
Above gardening, Edna valued family most. She loved having her family over for her delicious home cooked meals and desserts. Nothing could beat her homemade spaghetti and meatballs with tomatoes fresh from her garden. Dinner was always paired along side her pies made with her secret pie crust recipe.
Going hungry at her table was impossible. Christmas was her favorite holiday not only because it brought all her family under one roof but because she displayed lights and a small, hand crafted wooden Christmas village in celebration of the love of the season. In the winter months she enjoyed the Parkersburg Christmas tours and in the summer months she would see the Marietta Garden Tours. She traveled across the country with several close family friends over the years and always looked her best when she left the house. She wore her beauty and elegance gracefully.
She is preceded in death by both her parents and her older brother, Herman “Bud” Wildman Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband Loyd, her 3 older sisters, her two sonâs Phillip (Robin) Wright, Roger (Diana) Wright, and 4 grandchildren Marlon Wright (Ashely Chucray) Alexandra (Taylor) Reeves, Coleman Wright, Alaena Wright (Jack Perry), and great grandchild Ellie and multiple loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The love and memories she leaves behind are like her over flowing flower beds, each bloom a lasting part of her in our hearts.
Her husband Loyd is a native of Calhoun, known for his longtime involvement with keeping the Calhoun County High School Alumni gathering a ongoing affair.
A memorial service is tentatively planned for Aug. 29th at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre.
