WEDNESDAY: STATE REPORTS 71 NEW CASES COVID-19

The state Department of Health and Human Resources made a second report of confirmed coronavirus cases Wednesday putting the overall number at 483 as of 5 p.m.

The number represents an overall increase of 71 confirmed cases from Tuesday.

The DHHR said 12,859 residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 483 positive and 12,376 negative. The state has recorded four deaths related to the virus.

There are now 42 of the state’s 55 counties with at least one confirmed case. New counties added Tuesday include Boone, Braxton, Hampshire and Pendleton counties.

The current positive test rate is 3.74 percent.
