West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice said he will extend the statewide school closure to April 20.
Schools had been closed in the initial order by the governor through March 27, but the coronavirus situation has jumped dramatically since then in the state and across the nation.
In other matters, the governor announced he was extending the WV tax filing and payment deadline until July 15 to align with the same extended federal deadline.
Justice also announced that interest and penalties on property tax filings will be waived until May 1.
