David Samuel Tatterson, 78, of Spencer, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.
He was born July 4, 1941, at Reedy, the son of the late Samuel Luvell Tatterson and Susie Elizabeth Polin Tatterson Cottle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Johnnie Mae Webb Tatterson; and sister, Betty Kyer.
David was a mechanic and a lifelong resident of Roane County. He was a member of the West Central Beekeepers Association. His pastimes included hunting, antiquing, flea marketing, bee keeping and trips to Amish country.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Sue Westfall Tatterson, whom he married June 20, 2009, at Amma; son, David A. (Norma) Tatterson of Spencer; daughters, Rebecca Joyce (Butch Warden) Nichols-Wolfe of St. Albans, Sheila Diane "Sam" (Douglas Kyle) Haverty of Spencer, Brenda Kay (Gary) Cook of Milton and Sarah Beth (Jonathan Ray) Smith of Hedgesville; grandchildren, Kaily Jo Boggs, Samantha Raylene Burkhammer, Amanda Kylene Haverty, Brittney Dawn Ramsey, Megan Leann Miller, Emily Katelyn Haverty and Addison Jane Smith; great grandchildren, Savannah, Ben, Landon, Alex, Aeriale, Shylah, Blake, Owen, Niyah, Thayden, Eliza and Brynlee; sister, Jane Whytsell of Spencer; brother, Charles Dean (Betty Lou) Tatterson and sister, Macel (David) Bowe both of Reedy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Bradley Pettit officiating. Burial will be at Clover Cemetery, Clover.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
