DON'T GET MY SUITCASE WET -Charleston police said a man slashed a womanâs neck with a box cutter-style knife and allegedly asked a witness to let him know if the woman died “so he could put her body in a suitcase and throw it in the ocean.”
Zayne McCorkle, 35, of New York City is charged with malicious wounding after an incident that occurred Sunday at an apartment at Renaissance Circle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
Police said the suspect cut the woman after the woman said his suitcase had gotten wet in her apartment due to her sink overflowing.
Two witnesses said that after the suspect attacked the woman, he told them to tie a shirt around her neck to cover her wounds and lock her in a bathroom.
One of the witnesses said the suspect called her and told her if the woman were to die so he could throw it in the ocean.
Both witnesses said they saw the box cutter in the suspectâs hand when he asked them to lock her in the bathroom.
The woman was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Her current condition was not immediately available.
McCorkle is being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 or 10 percent cash bond.
