Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Human coronaviruses are a common cause of mild to moderate upper respiratory illness. Recently a new coronavirus has emerged that is causing a more severe illness among some people. This new or novel virus causes COVID-19. Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes or coughs and the droplets are carried in the air.
As with other respiratory diseases such as influenza, Minnie Hamilton Health System is currently tracking the spread of COVID-19 and taking precautions to help keep our
patients and community safe. Listed below is a summary of steps that you can take to de-crease your chances of coming in contact with any respiratory disease.
Prevention: 1. Wash your hands often. 2. Do not touch your
eyes, nose or mouth. 3. Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue. 4.
Avoid close contact with sick people (approximately 6 feet of dis- tance) 5. Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces often. Some exam-
ples include door handles and desks. 6. Stay home when you are sick.
Symptoms include: 1. Fever 2. Cough
3. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
Things to tell your healthcare provider: 1. You have symptoms and have recently traveled.
Minnie Hamilton Health System is currently assessing the situation on a daily basis by monitoring and adhering to CDC recommendations as well as following guidance from State and local officials. Staff are informed on any changes needed in order to protect our patients, community and staff.
