| The city of Spencer is looking for a few good men or women to run its police department.
Former Chief Ben Goodson recently stepped down, so the city is looking to fill that position and also needs officers.
Mayor Terry Williams said it can be tough to find candidates, but it's a priority to continue a good relationship between the department and the community.
"It's not the easiest job,” Williams said. “It takes a special person to be a police officer. We pay a very competitive salary for officers, usually more than most that's in our surrounding areas here."
Williams says there is no deadline to apply and officers do not have to live within city limits.
