Cathy Kunkel, candidate for the 2nd Congressional District for the House of Representatives visited 8th grade students to discuss, and more importantly listen to, issues facing West Virginia and specifically Calhoun County.
Students were well prepared to hold discussions with Ms. Kunkel. They prepared by learning the role of individuals in Congress, examined the various committees, and discussed issues facing Calhoun County, from road conditions, lack of jobs, and much more.
After her visit, positive comments were heard from students, including, "I liked her, she really listened to us," and similar comments. An invitation has also been extended to Representative Alex Mooney to visit 8th grade students. The Social Studies department hopes to host a debate in the fall for this national position. |
