Gerald Gene Wood, 71, of Shock WV went home to be with the Lord and Savior on February 12, 2020 at his daughter's home in Troy WV, following a brief illness.
He was born December 11, 1948 in Calhoun County WV son of the late Denver and Mollie Shaffer Wood.
Gene was a Vietnam Army Veteran, a rig hand, and a Hope Dominion worker. Gene was a Christian by faith. He helped anyone who needed it and made friends with many.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Diane Richards who preceded him in death in 2013.
He is survived by three children Curtis (Shannon) of Shock, Catherine (Jerry) of Troy WV, and Christopher of Morgantown WV; nine grandchildren, Carissa (Tyler) Fortney, Shawn Skeens, Sierra Wood, Makayla Skeens, Rebekah Sheens, Jamie Wood, Allison Wood, Larry Dobbins, and Kailynn Dobbins; one brother Darrell (Madeline) Wood; sister Charlie Wood; and two nephews Benjamin Wood and Justin (Gabby) Wood.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by his brother Harry James Wood and nephew Kevin Wood.
A memorial service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020. Elder Larry Fisher will officiate. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday. Interment will be in the Wood Family Cemetery, Stumptown WV.
